Pt. 7 / ?: Military jargon
I thought it’d be fun to do while I brood over all my other wips and future writing advice posts. There’s a lot more jargon than I list in this post, but I needed some kinda start and end to this so I just wrote down all the terms I’ve heard and / or used myself.
prompt: you’re a were-jaguar that left beacon hills after your parents got killed and you finally return to reconnect.

Coming back to Beacon Hills was a bad idea, and it was even worse to be waiting outside the school for everyone to rush out as the bell rang. You felt your heartbeat thumping like an approaching army, and all you could do was wring your hands in nervousness. You haven’t seen Scott and everyone else in six years– would they even recognize you? Would they forgive you for leaving? You weren’t sure. You just had to hope.
Summary: Descendants; Ben/Chubby GN reader; Reader is the fifth kid chosen to go to the isle
“So Y/N really? Them?” Jay laughs and you scowl letting your magic fizzle; while you can’t actually do magic on the Isle you’ve gotten good at alchemy. Which means for now everyone thinks you can do magic; the fizzles and sparks from the alchemical reactions you create. Jay is still not impressed, you know he has first had experience with Maleficent; you all do; one of the reasons Mal isn’t impressed that all of you were there. She knew you were her friends; but she also knew that all of you knew what her mother was capable of; and what would happen if you failed to get the wand. Your father; LeFou wasn’t exactly dangerous; but your mother; Madam Mim was a force to be reckoned with and you knew Maleficent was weary of her gaining her magic back simply because she, and you by default of benign her child, were unpredictable. You knew Mal was thankful that your anxieties had kept you in the shadows and books that the isle had; that you weren’t a threat to her.
“Mom said they could help; well the prince requested them specifically.” Mal shrugs watching you; you can tell she’s reevaluating you as a threat. You wonder what you score in the tally she has in her mind with how she pulls Evie a little closer.
Ben is grinning at everyone and you wonder if his parents are making him recite whatever speech he’s almost robotically talking through. Mal makes a joke; something about him trying too hard and his laugh sounds a little strained; but Audrey seems annoyed; clearly she can’t tell the tone has changed.
“And you’re LeFou’s child…”
“I wanted to uh; be the first to extend an apology to you and your… family because.. Of … You know…” You try to shrug a little and Ben just nods before Audrey appears trying to pull him back from all of you.
“Madam Mim’s child actually…” Evie interrupts and you know she was trying to be helpful; that all VK’s knew to answer with the most powerful parent they had. Ben’s smile doesn’t falter, until Audrey gives a sharp tug on his shoulder.
“We need to love spell him!” Mal grins and you wrinkle your nose avoiding saying anything; it would be easier to just swap the fake wand out by lowering the security systems with a couple of alchemical reactions you know but they never asked for your input.
-You’re hiding behind Evie when Lonnie walks in, poking your head between Mal and her smiling when Lonnie waves to you.
“Chocolate chips are the key; a warm chocolate chip cookie right out of the oven is the best; with your mom, it really puts things into perspective you know?” Lonnie grins looking slightly confused at everyone else’s faces you know they’re confused by her description of a mother and you and Jay share a look that you know hides the question of, what is it like to have a mother.
“I just thought that even villains would love their kids.” Lonnie looks hurt and you watch her gaze fall over all of you; Mal and Evie hesitate but you shrink backwards when her brow crinkles.
“That’s so horrible, I’m so sorry all of you have to deal with that.” You can see her tear and you move your finger to catch it.
“It’s alright, can’t miss what you never had.” You try to placate her but she just looks more upset.
All you manage to catch from Evie is that Mal and Ben went swimming; and then Mal had said something about not being in love and Ben had confessed he knew about the spell. That the lake washed it off; and you wonder how any of you survived on the Isle if you never thought to research if the enchanted lake had powers. You don’t think too heavily about it; in fact you’re too distracted because the next thing you hear is Carlos grumbling about how Ben and been talking to him on the Tourney field about you.
“I don’t understand what Ben see’s in any of them; at least he made the right decision and left Maleficent’s spawn in the dust; wonder if she’ll go full villain after the break up; Evil queen’s daughter is too stuck up to go for Ben and that one is far too chunky for him to be able to do anything with.” It’s Chad who’s making the comment’s Audrey laughing along. You almost wish Mal would use her magic; but you can see the way she’s glaring; and if you happen to slip a page of alchemical recipes in front of her to dye Chad’s hair, or color all of audrey’s pink clothes green; well it’s no one’s fault when it actually happens; everyone knows Mal is useless at Alchemy and you’ve only read about it in books; there’s no way your magic could do anything anyway.
Ben’s smiling a little at you and you want to say something but you also don’t know what to actually say.
“Are you alright?” You don’t know why you’re asking; he’s the one who broke up with Mal as far as she’s said.
“Alright in general or alright specifically because of the breakup?”
“Both?”
“I am ; but I was wondering if you wanted to go out?”
“I’m no ones rebound and I get you’re just asking me out because I’m sure Chad made some joke about it or-”
“No Y/N it’s not because of that; I really do like you.. I just; Mal made me realize it; the lake helped wash the spell off; but I think it didn’t work because of you…”
“You’re telling me I messed with the spell?”
“No; not on purpose..” You wait for him to explain but he just leans forward and kisses you.
Request: Edward Nygma with a gn! S/o Who works as a police psychologist at the GCPD and has a “hypnotic voice”

- you and Ed had started working at the GCPD around the same time
-you saw each other in the halls and exchanged glances and smiles, just friendly coworker  etiquette
- until one day you ran into him at a coffee shopand decided to introduce yourself formally
- you clicked instantly
- You had a long conversation about your respective fields and other areas of interest and thee best part was that Ed was actually listening to you
- he was genuinely interested in what you were saying and would ask questions, and of course you did the same for him; Humoring him by answering his riddles and such
- you both left for work and decided it would be nice to spend time together again.
- After that, Ed would follow you around the GCPD whenever he was free, just being around you and talking to you about psychology
- he loves how you had such a passion for your work and how you know so much about it. His favorite thing about you is your voice.
- you have this bizarre skill that allows you to manipulate people when you sing. Ed has never seen it in action, but you’ve described it to him so many times that he can imagine it perfectly
- the most interesting part was that nobody else in the GCPD knew about it
- you felt so happy around Edward, his strange spontaneity matched yours in a way you hadn’t ever experienced before, and you “hung out” almost every day after work
- after a while your hangouts started feeling a lot more like dates, and you decide to become an official couple
- he would bring you flowers and ask if you could show him how your hypnotic voice works, but you never do
- he’s sure he’ll get to hear it eventually
- everything was going great for you. The GCPD on the other hand? Not so much
- a death in an alleyway is nothing new in Gotham, but once there had been twelve in one week, it began to concern the pd
- it began with petty thieves and random corner store owners, but the victims started slowly working their way up in class
- the have no leads, since the crime scenes are so clean. It’s almost like the killer never interacted with the victims.
- until they receive an anonymous tip about a suspicious figure with a haunting voice coming from the same alleyways the bodies were found in
- Edward overhears this and immediately knows it’s about you
- he confronts you about it, (this is s1 Ed after all) but not in a “this is horrible how could you do this??!!” But in a “love, may I ask why are you doing this? What do you get from it?” Kinda way
- you explain to him your reasons (power, money, justice whatever it may be) and he understands
- he’s like.. overly chill about it, but you’re not complaining
- would never think about ratting you out, your secret is safe with him
- every time he hears the gcpd makes progress on you case he gets a little nervous and checks up on you
- he really loves you and wants to keep you safe
- you start to add strange extra things at the crime scenes to throw off the gcpd, which seems to work well for the time being
- one day, you go out to the movies and you’re walking home together, when someone comes out of an alleyway attempting to stab you and grab your wallet/bag
- you instinctively let out a short note, and the person immediately stops and walks the other way out of the alleyway
- you ask Edward if he’s ok, but he’s just looking at you in awe
- he was always curious about your strange siren voice, but now that he’s seen it he has so even more questions
- were you born with it or is it something you learned? Is it a psychological trick or some kind of brainwave manipulation? Can it be taught to others? Could he cultivate this skill? What are the limitations? How did you first find out about this skill?
- in the end he’s just honored to be with someone as unique and amazing as you, he loves you more then you could know

Murder Mystery au but instead of both the reader and the character of choice trying to solve the murders, one is trying to solve the murders and the other one is the murderer trying to foil the other’s plans.
An angsty zombie apocalypse au where we follow the couple on an adventure to find a cure, but one of them ends up getting bitten when they finally find it.
A slow burn royal au fic between a prince and a necromancer.
An angel and demon au but instead of them being at peace with who they are and falling in love with each other, the character who’s chosen as the demon slowly corrupts the angel or the angel slowly purifies the demon. Your choice.
I’m sure I can think of more, these are the ones that I have on hand right now though.

Fun fact: a group of leopards is called a leap! I went with the less common “prowl” though because I felt really stupid writing “a leap of leopards.” All you leopard experts, I want you to know that I did do some research.
Also, I definitely get more and more invested as I went on. I feel like I could write a whole fic for each character, whoopsies :)
Scott knew there was something different about you as soon as you met
It wasn’t just the fact that you were beautiful. There was something about your scent that was distinctly…not human
But what were you?
He couldn’t figure it out, and that, combined with that teasing little smile you’d give him when you noticed him staring, made him nervous
It took all of his confidence to approach you when he found out your name was on the Deadpool
“Y/N, there’s something you need to know.”
You stared up at him, your eyes playfully curious. Quirking an eyebrow, you said, “I already know you’re an alpha, Scott, you don’t have to try to impress me.”
The smile on your lips made him blush

Your devilish grin only grew. “It’s a secret.” With that, you winked and sauntered down the hallway, leaving Scott McCall, a True Alpha, stunned in your wake
Just as you were about to turn the corner, you glanced back and said, “But maybe I’ll tell you on our date.”

Hello! Can I get a Nct Dream reaction where their s/o is very.. 'punk'- they have spiderbites, a nostril piercing, and a vertical eyebrow piercing, their hair is completely shaved, and they listen to rock and k-rock music- but they're really caring and kind, yet they get annoyed really easily? I'm sorry if it's oddly specific.
So first of all he would especially admire his s/o’s confidence and boldness. Rocking their shaved head and cool piercings, pulling off the punk look and making it attractive. He’d be whipped for a person like that and amazed at how sweet they actually are when you get to know them. He would absolutely support their style, but instead of their tough appearance he would see an angel, because of their pure personality.
Jeno
Not gonna lie the hair that is completely shaved would trow him off at first, but he would lowkey find it hot. That combined with the piercings and just the overall look would make him interested in the person, but he would also be intimidated. However their cute personality would melt him. He would grow very attached to his s/o and their look is something he wouldn’t be able to get over easily.
Haechan
Is instantly attracted to that person. Doesn’t exactly know if he likes that sort of style or not, but he’s interested for sure. Someone looking like that and wearing it with confidence will definitely catch his attention. And what he’d love the most about his s/o is that they can be sweet, but also sassy and blunt, it matches him perfectly. He’ll end up loving the punk vibe, especially the piercings. Might even get one himself 👀
Jaemin
He is a fan. Any type of eye catching style or aesthetic would have him interested. Like Renjun and Haechan, he loves bold people who are not afraid to express themselves with the way they look. He would always give his s/o compliments, mostly on their hair style. He would encourage them to keep it like that, because it suits them so well. He would often stare at his s/o, just in admiration of their beauty.
Chenle
Another one who would love it from the get go. When he sees a person looking so different from the others, but pulling it off so well, he’d want to be with them. He would ask questions about the hair, the piercings, the music…but not in a mean way, he would be genuinely fascinated by every detail. Chenle would love his s/o’s personality and all of their colors, even the fact that they cuss a lot. Having a partner like this will give him a lot of self confidence as well.
Jisung
Also a little bit intimidated like Jeno, but a lot more attracted to the punk style. He would be shy around a person like this at first, but that doesn’t stop him from wanting to get to know them and get closer. He’d be most interested in the genre of music they like and he’d take their song recommendations, just so he can feel like he’s a got a piece of what his s/o is passionate about.
Stray Kids Reaction: S/O Shaves their Head for Charity
Hey booboo can you also do a reaction with any group you want where the significant other shaves off their entire head (their own not the boys’) completely to donate the hair to charity?
When he first saw you, he would be very confused. He would cock his head when he saw you and immediately run up to ask you where tf your hair flew off to. When you told him what you did, he would be beaming. Expect lots of hugs and kisses. He would for sure go and tell the rest of SKZ. He might complain because he can’t play with your hair anymore, - at least until it grows back out - but he would be a proud Chanana.
Completely mistook you for someone else for a sec. He would be calling your name because he wanted a hug or something along those lines, and when you turned around, he would be shook. Proud momma for the win. Once you told him why you shaved your head, he would nod and smile because, yet again, you’ve amazed him with your kindess.
Cue the next very confuzzled man. He would ask as soon as he saw you because it’s such a different look than he’s used to. Once he understood, he’d probably just spend a lot of time touching the shaved part of your head, admiring the feeling.
Don’t @ me on this, but I feel like his first thought would be, “That’s hot.” Of course, he would also wonder what prompted you to do such a thing. He would definitely applaud you for your donation, but would mostly be admiring the new look.
Very confused?? I think one of his favourite things to look at would be his s/o’s pretty hair. Idk why, I just do. Don’t @ me, please. He would just be so happy that you would do something like that. If he wasn’t such a public figure, - let’s be honest, JYP probably wouldn’t let him - I think he would do the same thing. I think he would have already known what you did by the time he saw you. If you went somewhere to change your look, he would be all in. When he learned that you did it for charity, he would absolutely fall in love with you just a little bit more.
I don’t think he would make a big deal out of it. He would be ecstatic that someone he loved would do something like this. Would 1000% want to draw air bender tattoos on your head. Whether or not he was allowed to is up to you lmao.
